Church Feast Celebrated with Pomp & Gaiety

The annual feast of Our Lady of Remedios, Nerul, was celebrated on 25th October 2009 with traditional gaiety and religious fervor.

The countdown to this auspicious occasion began with the Fama on 15th October 2009, where the flag of Our Lady of Remedios was hoisted after blessing the same by the Parish Priest. The 9 days of novena followed, which were celebrated with different themes and were organized by the respective wards and associations of the Parish.

The Feast of the Our Lady of Remedios, Patroness of the Nerul villagers, was celebrated on the 10th day. Two masses were held on the day , one at 7:30am and the High Mass at 9:30 a.m.

The main celebrant for the High Mass was Rev. Fr. Conceicao D’Silva, Parish Priest of Carambolim and concelebrated by Fr. Orlando Marques, Parish Priest of Nerul and Fr. John D’Souza.

In his powerful homily, Fr. Conceicao D’Silva called upon the faithful to rededicate themselves to the devotion of Mother Mary specially through the recitation of the Rosary and extending a helpful hand to those in need. He also warned not to fall prey to the propaganda of people who are out to discredit Mother Mary as the mother of Jesus Christ.

Also at this occasion, the official Nerul Parish Website, www.remedioschurchnerulgoa.org was launched at the hands of the main celebrant. This was followed by the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament which was then taken in a procession of the faithful, confraria members and celebrants around the precincts of the Church. The Mass concluded with the blessing of the exposed Holy Sacrament. Later in the evening, a tiatr named “100 VORSAM” was performed by the renowned tiatrist, Menino de Bandar and his troupe.

The feast was celebrated by the Parishioners under the leadership of Fr. Orlando Marques, Parish Priest and ably assisted by Parish Pastoral Council, Confraide de Igreja de Nerul, Parish Youth, Society de St Vincent De Paul and the other associations of the parish
